The Commission Process

Every Earle Rock Studios commission begins with a conversation. Together, we explore the subject, the story behind it, and the qualities that make the person or memory meaningful. From there, Earle develops the concept, discusses scale and materials, and creates the work through a highly personal studio process.

For portraits and memorial works, clients are kept involved throughout the process, from the initial consultation and reference selection through the development of the finished piece. The goal is not simply to reproduce a likeness, but to create a lasting work of art that captures something essential about the individual and the relationship they represent.

Memorial & Relief Portraits — from $5,500
Hand-sculpted portrait reliefs created to honor and preserve the memory of someone extraordinary. Individual commissions are priced according to scale, complexity, number of subjects, and materials.

Full Portrait Busts — from $20,000
One-of-a-kind, fully realized sculptural portraits created through an intensive studio process. Each bust is individually designed and modeled to capture not only physical likeness, but the character and presence of the subject.

Custom Commissions
Sculpture, memorial works, and complex multi-subject commissions are individually quoted based on scope, scale, materials, and complexity.

Whilst most work is undertaken with live studies, it is possible to produce these pieces from high-quality photographs. In a short period of time a life-like, three-dimensional portrait will be created.
