Point. Our natural world is staggeringly beautiful with stunning vistas of fantastical variety; from
the stark majesty of high Atacama, to the polar ice caps, to the jagged Irish cliffs overlooking dynamic sea sunscapes. Nature’s beauty can defy
comprehension, provoking a spontaneous gasp and an involuntary expletive.
 
Counterpoint. Humanity’s residue can be as ugly to experience as a vista can be beautiful. The
deleterious effects humans can have on their environment and the “other” overshadow much of
the good we have achieved. The individual is often driven to seek out experiences that help
regain equilibrium.
 
Yang. Creating is my equilibrium. This painting originates from a phrase I have long uttered; “Oh
to be by the sea. Back to the World, producing only for me.” During periods of duress, the
earliest iterations of being long for the days when we first rode the trusted wings of the feral
beast creativity, playing with our truest companions, light and color.
 
Yin. We are all one. We are equal in our participation and individual in our reaction. We
sometimes feel as though the best move would be to leave them all behind. This however,
betrays the transcendence of the human connection. Once equilibrium is reestablished, we realize
that this is all part of the human experience. Like two fish of opposing schemes forever bound in
an ancient mystical dance, we always circle back around.
