Shiva's Dance began as an abstract in the darker hue of the color palate. It was painted almost entirely on its long side. When the piece was about 90% complete, it was rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise. It was then that Shiva emerged. Shiva is the Hindu god of destruction and rebirth, and reminds us that in order to create something, something must frist be destroyed. In the case of this painting, it was destroying my attachment that I wanted to create a non-objective piece about color and devoid of form. Shiva had other intentions.
