I was born with Cerebral Palsy, yet I have always refused to let anything define me, let alone limit my ability to engage with life. As a teenager, I started training Chinese martial arts. This study and practice continues to this day, some 33 years and counting later. My determination didn't end there. I earned my masters degree in fine art. I have also been an euntrepreneaur for over 1/2 of my career. Aging with Cerebral Palsy however, brings with it a different set of challenges. Thankfully Pennsylvania has a medical cannabis program for people who are afflicted with alments that bring with them barriers to unaflicted participation. It really helps! Many states do not provide their citizenry the legal benefit of such relief.
While coming to grips with the fact that utilizing something many vilify made me keenly aware that there exists an opposing perspective. For many Caribbean Islanders, this plant is essential to their spiritual practice. 
There exists in the west a stigma that dates back to the 1936 propganda film Refer Madness. This was funded by an organization of American Church leaders to extol the "evils" of cannabis and its effects on wholesome American teens, with examples of schizophrenic episodes, sexual deviance and suicide from a single exposure to cannabis. 
To this day, the knock on effect this has had on The American Psyche cannot be over stated. So, for many, this plant is a true Devil. For people such as myself, this plant is a much appreciated doctor. For millions more, cannabis is a spiritual deliverer. So I created this painting to be reason to engage in an open dialog and conversation.
